    There is no one solution that fits all when it comes to learning a language, which is why all of my teaching materials are tailored to each individual student. I write all of my own worksheets and always make sure learning is made fun!

My services

  • One to one lessons

    I can come to you and teach in the comfort of your own home, or if you prefer, you can come to mine. I will offer a tailored course, specifically designed to meet your individual requirements and you will see great progress thanks to this personalised solution.

  • Group lessons

    If you want to have more of a fun learning experience and socialise with others who are at the same level, this is the perfect solution for you. It is low cost and of course could even be supplemented by one private lesson per month to consolidate the learning experience. I have existing groups but am open to setting up a new group in your home or mine with a group of your friends.

  • Translating and Interpreting

    Over the many years I’ve lived here I’ve helped with dreaded paperwork, calls, letters, admin assistance and interpreting. Recently, I have helped many people navigate paperwork going online (tax declarations, registering cars, selling cars etc). My real expertise lies in the sales property market and ANTS! All jokes aside, from gynaecologist appointments, to translating for court cases, I really am able to support you with your individual translation needs. NB I am not a registered translator for birth certificates etc.

Studying for a French examination?

I can help you meet your French language level requirements for visa and residency card holders and citizenship.

Exam preparation courses, assessments and mock exams are available for the following levels: A1, A2, B1 and B2

Are you an ex-pat living in France? Do you need help with admin, paperwork or translations?

As an ex-pat with over 20 years living in France, I understand first hand the challenges that arise dealing with paperwork!

I offer to support for the following areas:

  • Making phone calls with service providers, local authorities etc

  • Carte Vitale, ANTS applications and troubleshooting

  • Accompanying clients to appointments and rendez-vous

  • Support with legal advice

For these additional services, I charge on a time basis, get in touch for a quote.

A little more about me

My ethos is making language learning fun using a whole variety of teaching methods according to the student(s) in front of me.

Thanks to my 30 years of experience, I know how to create a safe space for you to make mistakes and more importantly, learn from them. With students, it is often a question of giving them confidence in their own abilities.  

Nothing gives me greater pleasure professionally than a student starting a sentence with “Caroline you would have been proud of me….”

Frequently asked questions

 

  • I recommend you definitely need to be doing French elsewhere, using Duo Lingo is an excellent place to start. But also read and listen to as much French as possible. Music, films, radio, podcasts, etc.

    If you’ve learnt a foreign language already you will automatically learn faster than if this is your first foreign language but I have excellent tools to help you learn whatever your age.

  • When it comes to learning a language, there are no secrets, consistency is key. The more you practise, the faster you will see progress. In the past, I have taught people for one or two hours per week but more intensive packages are available. Please contact me to discuss your individual needs.

  • Group prices start at 10 euros per hour and one to one sessions start at 40 euros (this price is also applicable for couples).

    Please note that prices may vary depending on where you live, how many lessons you are undertaking and a number of other factors. I aim to always keep my pricing as fair and as accessible as possible.

  • I accommodate a maximum 6 adults per class. Payments are kindly asked to be made in advance, in order to keep your place in an established groups.

    Classes run all year round.

  • The answer is NEVER!

    I have taught people in their 80’s who have studied successfully with me. If you are motivated to learn I am happy to teach you French and give your brain a workout too. It has been proven in studies that speaking a foreign language makes connections in your brain that help delay symptoms of illnesses such as dementia and alzheimer’s. You can read more here
